Rev. Dr. Knut Heim 

Rev. Dr. Knut Heim joined Deer Park United Methodist Church in 2023. He is a Presbyter (an ordained pastor) in the Methodist Church of the United Kingdom and an Associate Elder in the Mountain Sky Conference of the United Methodist Church. He joined the faculty of Denver Seminary as Professor of Old Testament in 2016. Prior to his arrival in Colorado, Dr. Heim has been Professor of Old Testament at The Queen’s Foundation/University of Birmingham (UK) and at Trinity College/University of Bristol (UK), where he also served as Director of the Postgraduate Research Program, as Academic Dean, as Vice President, and as Acting President. His academic work focuses on biblical poetry, and he has published three books and numerous articles and essays on all of the poetic books of the Hebrew Bible. His other academic interests include humor in the Bible, and how the Christian faith can contribute to human happiness and flourishing.

He is passionate about the transformative power of the Fine Arts, and has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Christos Collective, a Colorado-based nonprofit organization established to cultivate artists of Christian faith to impact culture with their art. He is a Theological Consultant with the Colorado Bach Ensemble’s Cantata Insight series, and his vision with the Colorado Bach Ensemble is to cultivate appreciation for the spiritual dimension of Johann Sebastian Bach’s music and its potential to contribute to human flourishing. His vision for Deer Park United Methodist Church is to help all in the community in and around Bailey to discover just how amazing God is, so that they will flourish through a vibrant relationship with God and contribute enthusiastically to the common good.
