Children & Youth

“Let the children come to me, and do not stop them;
for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”

Matthew 19:14

DPUMC SUNDAY SCHOOL, VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, AND YOUTH & INTER-GENERATIONAL PROGRAMS:

Sunday School – Deer Park UMC is ready for kids! Children begin the morning in worship, then leave the sanctuary and head to class with their teacher. We have multi-age Sunday School class every Sunday. We blend the church seasons (Advent, Lent, etc.) with Bible stories and apply the lessons to today’s community, home, school, and church. The children draw, paint, play games, hike (on our grounds), create crafts, tell felt board stories, sing, and do other exercises to learn the lesson of the day. Children frequently make a “take-home” piece to remind them of Christian behavior thoughout the week.

God Calls Us VBS Poster Deer Park UMC 2018Vacation Bible School (VBS) – August 23 – 27, 2018, 9:00 a.m. – Noon – “God Calls Us: Around the World in Five Days”
This year’s VBS focuses on learning about God’s children all over the globe and loving our neighbors as ourselves. Children, age four to Grade 5, will embark on a daily journey to different countries where Christian service work is taking place around the world. We’ll start our day by “taking off” to a different country each day – Guatemala, The Philippines, Thailand, Uganda, and Pakistan. They will play games, sing songs, taste food, create craft items, and learn about the children in each country – their joys and challenges. Registration begins in mid-May. Class size is limited. Call the church office or Email DPUMC if you’d like registration materials. First come, first serve. All are welcome!
